Doosan Bobcat unveiled its new compact mini tracked loader Bobcat T7X a 100% electric model, at the CES 2022 the world’s largest technology innovation show.
The Bobcat T7X mini loader is the first 100% electric model in its class and has no hydraulics. At CES 2022, the Bobcat T7X Mini Charger received two awards for innovation in the “Vehicle Intelligence and Transportation” and “Smart Cities” categories .
An innovative machine
The Bobcat T7X is the world’s first fully electric compact tracked loader. This 100% battery-powered machine was designed from the ground up to achieve a more productive electric propulsion system. The machine is more powerful than any diesel tracked loader in its class.
This model represents a technological breakthrough for Bobcat and the industry as a whole,” said Joel Honeyman, Vice President Global Innovation, Doosan Bobcat. We’ve turned traditions on their head, offering a 100% connected electric machine designed to achieve a level of power and performance not yet achieved. We now share this development with the construction world and are proud of the efforts made to bring these pioneering ideas to life.
As for its marketability in Europe, Vijay Nerva, Innovation Manager at Doosan Bobcat EMEA said:
The T7X is currently aimed at the North American market, but it covers modern requirements felt around the world. This year we plan to carry out internal tests and collect feedback from customers in different countries to better understand customer expectations before launching it in Europe.
State-of-the-art technology and design
The T7X does away with the classic hydraulic power unit and replaces it with a motion drive system consisting of pistons and electric motors. The result: the machine works almost liquid-free. For example, the new 100% electric Bobcat T7X uses less than a litre of environmentally friendly refrigerant.
Another advantage of the all-electric engine: immediate availability of maximum power and torque, regardless of engine speed. The operator no longer has to wait for the standard hydraulics to provide the required power.
In addition to the total absence of pollutant emissions, the T7X has minimal noise and vibration, measured in the cab. Its efficient and quiet operation is a real asset in noise-restricted areas and when working in enclosed spaces, its quietness greatly improving the working environment.
The new machine also significantly reduces daily running costs, thanks to lower annual maintenance costs and the elimination of several items: diesel, engine oil, filters and hydraulic components.
At the heart of the T7X compact loader is a powerful 62 kW lithium-ion battery supplied by Bobcat’s technology partner Green Machine Equipment. Even if the machine is used for various applications on a construction site, with a single battery charge it covers all normal daily work, and the use of the intelligent work modes implemented in the central memory provides up to four hours of continuous operation or a full day with intermittent use.
The intelligent power management system is programmed to detect changes in load, so it can automatically adjust the power delivered according to the demands of the site, thus saving energy and extending the charger’s range.
