Landini REX4 Full Hybrid has been awarded as technical novelty in the international Eima 2022 Technical Novelty Competition.

For the third time in a row, the Argo Tractors brand , and in particular the REX4, has received this prestigious award, following the Advanced Driving System in 2018 and the Electra – Evolving Hybrid in 2020. The prestigious award was presented at FederUnacoma’s exclusive preview in Bologna, where the REX4 Full Hybrid will take centre stage at Eima 2022 from 9-13 November.

A DECISIVE STEP FORWARD IN THE ELECTRIFICATION PROGRAMME FOR ORCHARD TRACTORS

The design of the new REX4 Full Hybrid tractor involved the development of a number of innovative technologies and systems. The Full Hybrid model, capable of delivering a total power of 80 kW, features the coupling of a 55 kW endothermic diesel engine with a permanent magnet booster electric motor with a power of up to 50 kW.

Full Hybrid operation is developed with the 55 kW of the endothermic engine combined with 25 kW of electric bypass, while Full Electric operation reaches a rated output of 50 kW (with a maximum output of 65 kW).

The tractor is equipped with a high-capacity battery, both as an energy reserve for hybrid operation and to guarantee the necessary range in case of fully electric operation.

The endothermic motor, at times of low mechanical load, recharges the battery according to a proprietary algorithm that constantly weighs the energy contributions and implements the most convenient strategy at that moment.

The whole system is managed by a control system, PMS (Power Management System), which monitors electrical devices, energy flows and identifies the optimal operating point of the propulsion systems. The ability to recover energy from the vehicle during deceleration and braking, using the electric motor as a recharge generator, further increases the efficiency of the system.

Although still in prototype form, the REX4 Full Hybrid project represents a fundamental step in the development of electrification technologies destined to become increasingly important in the market of the future, in parallel with the ongoing process in the automotive sector.
