New Holland’s T7 Methane Power LNG tractor won a Special Mention in the worldwide famous TIME’s Best Invention List in the 2023 edition.
This year’s special mention list included 50 inventions recognized for their unique impact. The list is curated by TIME editors, who look for inventions in several categories – including technology, beauty, entertainment, health. TIME selects innovations that solve compelling problems in creative ways. This year, TIME expanded its categories in response to rapidly changing advances in areas such as artificial technology, artificial intelligence, sustainability and more, with a focus on growth areas – such as the electric vehicle industry, green energy and metaverse.
SPECIAL NOTE: New Holland Agriculture’s T7 prototype is the first tractor powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG). The source of this gas – manure – is abundant on many farms. Using a system developed by a New Holland subsidiary, farmers can capture “fugitive” gas from covered manure ponds and convert it into LNG for storage in on-site cryogenic tanks. T7 could become commercially available as early as 2026.
